Engendered-sustainable peace in the patriacene: future threatened by violence, climate change, pandemics, and tipping points

Abstract

This article explores diverse peace paradigms from a negative, realist to a liberal, structural, cosmopolitan, and engendered peace. Patriarchy emerged thousands of years ago when powerful men destroyed the maternal clans of care. Their androgenic pathway was unable to consolidate a livable future for humans able to prevent global and regional wars, environmental destruction, climate change impacts, poverty, and pandemics. Patriarchy has also altered the history of Earth from the Holocene to the Patriacene, where violent exploitation has systematically destroyed natural resources, subsumed women, and promoted slavery to accumulate wealth and power for small male minorities. An engendered-sustainable peace, rooted in a multicultural-decolonized framework, could eradicate corporate-military-scientific-financial-productive monopolies from the bottom up. These alternatives recognize women's care work for their families, global well-being, and the survival of nature and humanity. Her multicultural efforts explore diverse gift-giving and social economies of care that can eliminate exploitation, violence, and the destruction of life. Women and men are mediating conflicts and re-establishing harmony that is able to reconstruct conflicts among races, classes, societies, and with nature.
